Anchor Section – February 2026

Anchor Boys resumed after the festive break with more themed activities on offer every Friday for our young members.

The weather was the theme of our first night back with boys hearing the story of Jesus calming the storm, trying their hand at being weather presenters, racing to place different weather icons on a map of Scotland, and creating their own weather wheels.

Birdwatching was our topic the following week ahead of the RSPB’s Garden Birdwatch, with boys learning about different species and hunting around the church to find how many different British species they could find – the extra challenge was to stay quiet in case they scared them away. Boys also made their own peace doves to take home.

Robert Burns was the most recent subject for boys, with haggis being the key ingredient. Boys split up into teams for a game of haggis hunting, made their own haggis and had a game of haggis tossing, before trying out some haggis for themselves – admittedly it was chocolate haggis but they got the idea!
