Another session came to a close when the boys joined with the Company Section for a very successful Inspection and Display on May 19. Junior Section participated in a number of items during the evening, including a display of the figure marching routine mastered by the boys set to the 1970s track, Jump to the Beat. There was also a chance to take part in some gymnastics as well as encouraging audience participation in our ‘classic’ Fetch game.
The night concluded with the prizegiving ceremony where a number of boys picked up awards. Congratulations go to all the boys who went home with awards with special mentions for Struan Maxwell and Fraser McQueen who achieved perfect attendance, Andrew Strachan who won the PE award and Harris Paterson who won the Drill award.
Struan also collected the Best Boy runner up award whilst Fraser won the overall Best Boy award. The best group award for the session went to Group Three led by Struan alongside Harris Miller and Calum Kennedy.
Harris Paterson was also promoted to Company Section and we wish him well as he begins the next stage of his time within The Boys’ Brigade.
We also thank members of the congregation who came along to support the boys on the evening.
The day after our Inspection was our annual trip with Anchor Boys, this year to Almond Valley Heritage Centre. We enjoyed a great day touring the various enclosures and play areas and between the bouncing, zip-sliding and go-karting, we managed to fit in a train ride as well as a visit to some friendly animals!
We will now be enjoying a relaxing summer break before enrolling for Session 2023-2024 on Friday 1st September from 6.30pm in the large hall. Any boy in P4, P5 and P6 is welcome to come along for more details on joining the section or alternatively, visit www.130thglasgow.co.uk for further information.
