The New Year has got off to a busy start with the Company hosting its annual Burns Supper on January 20th.
With plenty of food and drink on hand, this is an evening in which boys take the lead through a mixture of music, poetry and song, with participation counting towards the Company’s awards programme as we learn about our national bard.
There are also a number of District competitions in the pipeline. Early in February, boys will be taking part in the District Laser Quest Competition, to be followed by the District Badminton Competition later in the month.
Other activities are being planned, and we’re also making plans for future events including our Annual Inspection and Display this May, and Summer Camp 2023 – the first time either event has taken place since 2019.
January has also seen one of our senior boys, Angus Happell, take part in his Skills for Queen’s Badge course with Glasgow Battalion – one of the elements required for boys as they work towards the badge.
It remains to be seen whether Angus is one of the last boys to gain the Queen’s Badge or one of the first in over 70 years to gain the King’s Badge, but that depends on how quickly the new badge gains Royal approval!
