.: Company Section - Summer 2010
Session 2009/2010 has now concluded with our Annual Inspection & Display marking the culmination of an enjoyable session. The Boys all put in a lot of hard work to successfully showcase the range of activities they take part in throughout the year and it proved to be a fitting way to round off the session. As always, the highlight of the evening for the Boys was the presentation of prizes where the year's efforts were rewarded. In particular, we were delighted when another one of our senior boys was awarded his President's Badge. Attention will now turn to the Brigade's highest award - the Queen's Badge. Over the summer, our focus now moves to our Annual Camp, which will be held at the Lagganlia Outdoor Centre from August 9th to 13th. Lagganlia sits on the banks of Loch Insh, just south of Aviemore.   Lagganlia Outdoor Centre Fifteen boys and three staff will be attending, and everyone is looking forward to the trip. Enrolment for session 2010-2011 will take place in early September 2010 but in the meantime, we wish all our website readers a great summer!

.: Junior Section - Summer 2010
Another session came to a close on Friday, May 14th, when the boys joined with the Company Section for a very successful Inspection and Display. The boys showed off the figure marching movements they had mastered throughout the year along with their skills on the PE mat. The boys also took part in several games that showcased our work throughout the session and it seems the parents and spectators enjoyed their night as much as the boys.  The night ended with the prize-giving ceremony where a number of boys picked up awards. Congratulations go to all the boys who went home with trophies. The Junior Section has also been successful once again in competitions this year, with the Company being awarded the McKenzie Memorial shield for the third year in succession.         This is a District prize given to the section that performed best throughout the year in all the competitions that were run, and is no easy achievement, so a huge well done to all the boys from the section. Our final event of the year was our trip with the Anchor Boys to Edinburgh Zoo, which was held the day after the display. Thankfully the sun shone for our trip and all the staff and boys had a great day out. We are now looking forward to a relaxing summer before enrolling for Session 2010-2011 in September - stayed tuned to the website for further information in due course.

Welcome to the relaunched website of the 130th Glasgow Boys' Brigade.   The design has been revamped just over five years after the Company's website was originally launched. Those years have seen the Company website grow and become evermore popular with local friends and ex-members from all over the world who want to keep in contact with us.   Much of the content has remained unchanged under the new design but hopefully visitors will enjoy the fresh look to the site as well as additions to some of the pages, including new photos on our Gallery page.   As always, further updates will be added in future months and years but in the meantime, if anyone has any comments or suggestions then we would be delighted to hear them. .: Company Section - May 2010
The Company has just resumed following an extended Easter break, with efforts now focused on our Annual Inspection and Display, which will be held in the large hall on Friday, May 14th at 7.00pm. The display of activities we shall present includes drill, bugle band, PE, games and fellowship, followed by our prize giving, and we hope it will prove to be an enjoyable night as always. The Company also recently took part in the Partick District Parade, held at St John’s Renfield Church in Kelvindale, to mark the 125th anniversary of the 5th Glasgow Company.       The morning proved to be a great occasion, and it even stayed dry for the march past. With summer just around the corner, thoughts are also turning towards our summer camp, which will be held at the Lagganlia outdoor centre near Aviemore this August. Fifteen boys will be attending, and we’re hoping for another successful and enjoyable week of activities. .: Company Section - April 2010
With Easter now upon us, our thoughts are already turning towards our Annual Inspection and Display which is to be held in mid-May. Boys in all three sections will be busy practising for the Inspection once they return from holiday but hopefully the hard work that everyone puts in will be extremely worthwhile. We have also been busy with a number of competitions having taken place in recent weeks. We came fourth at the District drill competition, a number of boys took part in the District badminton and table tennis competitions, and we also competed in the District five-a-side competition at the Kelvin Hall. Recently, we also welcomed some senior members of our Junior Section to join Company Section for the evening to see some of the activities they'll be taking part in next session. We will enjoy an extended break because of the school spring holidays before Company Section resumes for its final few weeks on Friday, April 23rd. .: Company Section - March 2010
The Company has enjoyed a busy period of events and competitions during February and into March and the next few weeks look similarly packed. The highlight of February was our second parade of the session, with excellent weather allowing the boys to enjoy the march past and our bugle band to demonstrate their hard-work over recent months. In early March, Company Section attended Hampden for the Scotland v Czech Republic football international and were delighted to witness a 1-0 for the home side.         All the boys and staff had an enjoyable night and it is hopefully the sort of event that the Company can attend again in future months and years. The Company also participated in a busy run of competitions with the drill, badminton and ten-pin bowling competitions all well attended by the boys. In future weeks, the boys will have the chance to enjoy further competitions, including the table-tennis event in mid-March. .: Company Section - February 2010
The start of 2010 kicked off a busy period for the boys and staff of the Company with February looking like a similarly packed month. During January, the Company enjoyed its annual Burns Supper which was once again a huge success, with the boys playing a large part in making the evening so enjoyable through the various recitals and toasts. The Company also enjoyed victory at the recent District Chess competition, with first and third places respectively in the Junior and Senior events. In February, the Company will hopefully be participating in the District Ten-Pin Bowling, Scripture Knowledge and Drill competitions. However, the highlight of the month will be the second church parade of the session on February 21st - the band have been practising diligently and we are hoping for better weather after the disappointment of heavy rain at the first parade in November.
