Junior Section Summer 2017
Another session came to a close when the boys joined with the Company Section for a very successful Inspection and Display on May 12. Junior Section participated in a number of items during the evening, including a display of the figure marching routine mastered by the boys, and there was also an opportunity to find ‘volunteers’ from the audience to take part in some energetic games.
The night concluded with the prizegiving ceremony where a number of boys picked up awards. Congratulations go to all the boys who went home with awards with special mentions for Logan MacLeod who achieved perfect attendance, Ruairidh MacDonald who won the PE award and Ruairidh Rankin who won the Drill award.
Calum Brown collected the Best Junior Boy award whilst Logan MacLeod won the overall Best Boy award. The best group award for the session went to Group Two led by Angus Happell alongside Logan MacLeod, Taylor Wishart, Calum Brown and Robert Buchan.
Angus Happell, Ruairidh MacDonald, Ruairidh Rankin and Robbie Robertson were also promoted to Company Section and we wish them well as they begin the next stage of their time within The Boys' Brigade.
The day after our Inspection was our annual trip with Anchor Boys, this year to Almond Valley Heritage Centre at Livingston. Despite the showery weather, the boys and leaders enjoyed a great day touring the various enclosures and play areas and in-between zip-sliding and go-karting, we managed to fit in a train ride, a tractor ride as well as a visit to feed some hungry lambs.
We will now be enjoying a relaxing summer break before enrolling for Session 2017-2018 on Friday 1st September from 6.30pm in the large hall. Any boy in P4, P5 and P6 is welcome to come along for more details on joining the section or alternatively, visit www.130thglasgow.co.uk
