About Us

The 130th Glasgow Company, The Boys' Brigade is a youth organisation based in Broomhill in the west end of Glasgow, Scotland. Our three age sections all meet on Friday nights during school term time and membership is open to boys between the ages of 5 and 18. Each section runs a packed but varied programme of activities and events that is not only energetic but challenging and enjoyable.

Gill Memorial TrophyWith the Easter holidays having now passed, we are into the final few weeks of the Boys' Brigade Session, with preparations for our 113th Annual Inspection and Display now well underway.

The Display takes place in the large hall of the Church on Friday, May 18th beginning at 7:00pm, and everyone will be made most welcome.

The evening will feature a number of items that reflect our programme of activities such as drill, bugle band, games and fellowship, with boys currently working on all of these along with the opening and closing ceremonies.

The weeks prior to Easter saw a number of successes in District competitions against other local companies. Akshat Gupta was the winner of the District Badminton Competition with Ruairidh MacDonald finishing runner-up, while Nathan Alexander was second in the intermediate age group.

Our team of Nathan Alexander, Tom Hamilton and Tyler Swan were the winners of the District Scripture Knowledge Quiz, while our team of Nathan, Tom and Varnit Gupta were runners-up in the District Masterteam Quiz.

That run of good form means the Company was crowned overall District Champions, winning the Gill Memorial as it’s known for the second year in a row. Last year was the first time in many years we’d won the title, so to retain it is particularly pleasing.

As attention focuses on our Annual Inspection and Display, we are especially looking forward to five of our senior boys receiving their Queen's Badges during the evening.

Lewis Grant, Varnit Gupta, Alistair Meldrum. Dhruv Shah and Fergus Watson have been working towards their Queen's Badges over the last two sessions, and recently completed their Queen's Badge Residential Course at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre.

The evening will also see Tom Hamilton receiving his President’s Badge, allowing him to begin work on his Queen’s Badge next session, and will feature our prizegiving ceremony, with boys competing for a number of individual and squad prizes reflecting the work of the Company over the course of the year.
