Company Section February 2018
The Company bid farewell to 2017 with our traditional Christmas fancy dress party featuring a mix of games and food and drink.
Congratulations go to Lewis and Angus Happell who shared a £20 gift voucher for best costume by coming dressed as the 118 118 runners – complete with wigs and moustaches.
The New Year has got off to a busy start, with nine boys last week taking part in the District Go-Karting Competition at Scotkart in Clydebank. Congratulations go to Fergus Watson who finished second in the senior age group and Tyler Swan who finished third in the intermediate age group.
The staff had a busy time as they were organisers of the event, which saw a total of 57 boys taking part over two nights.
That was followed the very next night by the District Drill Competition, in which a squad of six boys competed against squads from other companies, finishing in third place as their skills were tested by a very difficult paper.
The next event will be the District Badminton Competition which will be held at Scotstoun during February.
Late-January also saw us holding our annual Burns Supper, with boys taking the lead with music, poetry and toasts in what was a lively evening.
Participation in the night counts towards the Company's awards programme, and always proves to be a fun way of learning about our national bard.
To round off a busy month, one of our senior boys, Tom Hamilton, completed the Building Your Skills Course run by Glasgow Battalion, which is one of the final requirements for boys wishing to earn their President’s Badge.
Tom is on course to earn the badge at the end of this session, which will allow him to start work on his Queen’s Badge this summer.
