Company Section March 2017
Company Section enjoyed some success at the District Badminton Competition held at the end of January at the National Badminton Academy at Scotstoun.
Matthew Leitch won the junior age group, Nathan Alexander came second in the intermediates, and David Molloy completed the haul by taking third place in the seniors.
The next event will be the District Tenpin Bowling Competition to be held in March.
With Company Section having taken a break for the half-term holidays, we took the opportunity to organise a game of five-a-side football, also at Scotstoun. With the weather being dry but bitterly cold, the emphasis was on keeping moving, with a mixture of boys and staff having a good time.
February also saw our visiting elder for this session, Bill Thomson, paying us a visit, during which he saw a range of activities from our drill squad and bugle band to a rather robust game of unihoc involving the whole Company Section.
Four of our senior boys took part in a course aimed at helping them work towards their Queen’s Badge, while a further five will be attending their Queen’s Badge Completion Course at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre towards the end of March.
Those five boys are hoping to receive their badges at our 112th Annual Inspection and Display, which will take place in the large hall on Friday, 12th May, beginning at 7pm.
Before that we are also looking forward to the second Service for Uniformed Organisations will take place at the Church on Sunday, March 19th.
